Just right click on torrent name in the list in window then go on to menu Advanced and from sub-menu select "Set Download Location" and choose a directory where file will be saved. Make sure that you have permission to selected directory. Finally again right click on torrent and select "start". this should work...

Seems to work. Had the same problem, every time i clicked a torrent to add it to my download que, a window popped up where I could change the directory and the name of the file. I used to just hit enter and that would give me the error when downloading was about to start. Dont know why that window pops up. Never used to. My mac is haunted.

Yep, changing where you save files works.

p.s. Make sure once you change the settings you re-start bittorrent and the download itself.

set your location of where you want the files to go before you accept. otherwise you'll never get anything

"Right click on the failed torrent and select "remove all files". After that start it again"

This one worked for me, thanks a lot :)

Make the preferred folder for downloads in preferences for bittorent "Downloads". When updating to the newest version of bittorrent, I realized that this was greyed out, meaning it had not been set. For me, the default folder became documents. Just change that as mentioned and it should work fine.

Hey all, i had the same issue.. i tried what you suggested and it seems to have worked.. only thing is and this has only just started since I've connected to another provider (not sure if its related) anyways.. now when i click on the torrent there isn't the option to save the link the only option i have is to "get this torrent" which i then don't have a choice what i want to download.. e.g.: leave the samples, leave the text etc.. and the file doesn't save to my mac only once its downloaded does it appear.. is this random or what? any advice would be mint, thanks K :)

Magnet links don't give BitTorrent the contents of the .torrent file immediately, so they won't display in that initial popup.

I have the same problem with the error bit when downloading torrents as well, but just read Azeri's comment and followed his instructions and it worked. So thanks a lot for that.
