Latest Upgrade Caused "can't Open Torrent" Errors

I recently received an upgrade offer (maybe 2 weeks ago) from BitTorrent and naively accepted and installed it without finishing or backing up my current torrents. I DID HOWEVER, Close BitTorrent before the upgrade. Well, of course, it crashed all my running torrents, and then said "cant open .torrent file" for every torrent in my list, including finished and seeding torrents. So I said O.K. my ignorance, and copied all torrent files from their original location to a backup folder, then trash canned all torrents and started over. BUT NOW EVERY TIME I CLOSE BITTORRENT OR RESTART MY COMPUTER, I GET THE SAME ERROR. As long as I keep BitTorrent open, or just go to Sleep mode, all is well, and torrents work fine. But if I merely close BitTorrent, the next time I open it, ALL torrents show "can't open .torrent file" WITH THE PATH SHOWING CORRECTLY TO WHERE THE TORRENT FILES ARE ! . I've checked the path, and it is correct, but BitTorrent can't find it's own files Every Time I Re-open It. Can Someone Please Help Me ? ?

Thank you, give me a few minutes to make screen shots.

I've made the image but I don't see an attach image option here. I selected "Image" but it only gave me an option for "URL" . How do I send you the screenshot please.

Can I email you the image ?

I see that the last administrator signed off at 10:22 pm. - 5 hours ahead of me, in central U.S. time.  Are you guys in England ?

Having trouble with the "Image" URL function.

Also, when I type the URL into this message box, and hit send, it goes into infinite cycling mode, doesn't send.

So, I'm going to try to convey the URL address in this manner :

the URL address is hypertext transfer protocol etc..... postimg(dot)org/image/6h30tt5en/

I hope you can decipher that and find the image.

Thank you.

postimg.org/image/6h30tt5en/

there, without http etc. it seems to send o.k.

http://postimg.org/image/6h30tt5en/

well now it seems I can send the link just fine....

And as you can see, the error message directory matches the actual directory exactly.

That's why I can't figure out what to do or why it is erroring.

o.k. will change one of them, and try it again.

But I don't understand that because:

1. If it doesn't load them automatically from where it stores them, how is it going to reload all the torrents when I close the program and re-open it. It seems that it ought to load them from the same place it stores them.

2. I don't remember changing anything when I upgraded. I just ran the upgrade and it broke.

And 3.  Which one should I change, because I know that the program selected at least one of them when it installed. I remember it was a hidden directory which I had to unhide to even FIND my torrent files in the first place.

You didn't say which one to change, so I changed "store in" directory. I made a directory called HoldStore in the BitTorrent directory that it had created when it installed. I have a feeling that I should have changed the "automatically load" directory instead. I removed all old torrents and started over with just one torrent, but now it seems to be going VERY slow, like .5 kilobytes. And the INFO fields at the bottom are blank. There is no download info, i.e. time elapsed, bytes downloaded, etc.

I'm sorry.  It's just taking time to reorganize itself.   Now I will close the program and see if it opens correctly now.

OK, it seems to be working fine now. You have been Very Helpful. I would not likely have figured that out on my own. So, I guess it doesn't matter where the 2 locations are, as long as they are not the same ? I may have changed the auto load location myself after I upgraded and then when I closed BitTorrent and re-opened it, and it was broken, I assumed it was the upgrade. And since no other people seem to have reported the same problem, it must have been "user error".  I apologize for the inconvenience and Thank You for your polite help. Maybe this will be useful to someone else, to inform that you cannot have Store To and Auto Load at the same directory location.

Thank You Again.

P.S. - and though you didn't answer this part, I know that you are in London, England because of the time stamps.  Very Interesting. I wasn't sure at first because your last name is Germanic in origin, but your first name is Very British. Although I am in the U.S. my ancestor was the 15th P.M. of England.  Henry Addington, also known as Lord Sidmouth.  Interesting world we live in.

OIC.... well then BittTorrent must be in London, because the time stamps are London time, which is easy to tell, because London is on it's own time in the summer, different from the rest of the entire world.

Thank you so much for your help, Harold. It fixed my problem perfectly.
