Bit Torrent Not Downloading

I can't get any downloads to start. They just sit there at low to no data at all. I've tried opening ports and the torrents aren't dead. There are plenty of seeders and low leecher rates. Could my ISP be locking the client or the sites I'm using?
i am having the same problem with all my download managers ! but i can still do flash downloads ,,, seems to be just torrent downloads will not start ??

Big thx, changing the port helped
So go into your options in your torrent client. Set transfers to encrypted. Also change your ports. Worked for me... now I can download again. For like a whole week I couldn't seem to download anything.

I could download fine from thepiratebay without signing up for here or thepiratebay. Though for KAT you have to (well I had to because they forced me by giving me a popup with either sign up or login on loading the page). (though I find it a good idea to sign up so one can leave comments on the torrents being downloaded. [for TPB I think, not sure for KAT])
if your using pirate bay then u need to register first. i figured that out today
If you want to upload a torrent yourself then you'd probably need to register for TPB. Though I'm pretty sure you can download from TPB without registering. What does your BitTorrent client show you when you start your download...if it shows you no file size yet then you need to wait a bit longer, if the file size is showing either reset your router or do as the post a couple up from mine said (change the port).
Also, if the istoleit tracker shows up don't leave it there switch it out right away (I've been reading that this tracker isn't really all that reliable - search it up on google) and you probably need a few more trackers if the download only shows one tracker (I've had a few downloads like that - it only shows up with one tracker).
EDIT: TPB is back up now. I checked it recently and it works.

I turned off my firewall (McAfee) and it seemed to work. I turned it back on, blocked access and then gave full access to bittorrent. Still having problems.
I changed ports, still having problems.
I tried to run a test. I got the "socket not connected....." I tried three different test centers.
Under Network it said NAT-PMP nor UP-nP was enabled. (They were.) I unchecked them, hit apply, checked them again, hit apply). Still showed them as not enabled.
I changed ports again.
Still have the same problem. My torrents go from green to red to green to red but they're not uploading or downloading either way.
Above I read to go into option and change transfers to encrypted. I can't find them. Could someone please help me with that as well.

What I did after posting my earlier problem was to delete bittorrent from my firewall and then add it back. Afterwards, everything worked fine. Don't just block it and then allow it, actually delete it and then add it.

At the very bottom it says DHT:waiting to log in.
I have read on here to delete and re install...surely this will loose everything I have on there....???
I am that new to this so I don't yet 'speak IT'..in plain language please....
thank you in anticipation

However after trying those things out, it did nothing to solve the problem.
