  1. ^ (on Harold's second point) Yup download speed is dependent on both the speed of the seed and the peer. (I think dl speed works this way, Seed's UL speed = Peer's DL speed, in other words your download speed is as good as your seed's connection [upload] can handle)
  2. Yes that is an option you can change in the preferences box in the general section. Just uncheck the box that says Start BitTorrent when Windows starts.
  3. Just create another email using a service that isn't banned (like yahoo or gmail) then sign up for uTorrent's forum. I used another email that I created with another service after I tried signing up with the one I usually use to sign up for almost everything. (a hotmail address)[in the uTorrent sign up page]
  4. Can an admin give insight to this poster's problem...because I can't really discern what is causing this person's issue?
  5. First of all...what is running in the background that could be eating up resources away from BitTorrent? ...and please post either a hijack this log or something else that shows what is running and could cause this not responsive issue. Also: what is your system specs besides the operating system running on your computer?
  6. @Tth (if this person is ever going to come back): DId you do what Harold suggested (disabling [temp uninstalling] F-Secure and doing the thing with the Settings.dat and the Settings.dat.old files? To everyone else: What is your antivirus or autobackup software? (If your AV/Auto Backup software is causing issues try disabling it and see if it solves the issue.) Also: If you want to not update just uncheck the 'check for updates' box in the settings menu (under general settings).
  7. Here is how to deal with the File Access Error: 1) If you're running an instant/a self running backup software - either stop/pause the auto backup or disable the service (WD Smartware Backup Service for the latter.) ...and/or 2) Just disable the windows indexer and either uninstall the program or disable the service (for the latter it's probably better to remove the whole program because one may not be able to find the service for any other program with an indexer. also: don't run Windows Media Player when downloading)
  8. Yes...when I turned it off it stopped erroring on me, and when I used another hard drives autobackup thing it started out fine, but when it reached the point where it was hitting files that were downloading it gave the error. (for the second one stopping the backup helped)
  9. 10. I'm getting the 'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.' Error even though I excluded the directories in C drive from indexing. I don't think that I have anymore search indexers running or installed on this computer. Even after rechecking the download it still does it. Just checked and it still does it. It seems like after I took C drive out of indexing this problem got even worse...not even seconds into the download and the download gives that error. (File size of the torrents giving me the Error: 14GB and 12.4GB [respectively])I'm testing the smallest torrent now to see if it gets the error. (a 3GB torrent): So far so good. EDIT: Yep it happened again on the Queen.Discography.Flac torrent. Now I'm trying it with the only media player I use shut down (I'm wondering if Sony's Media Go application has a built in media indexer) and a clean application run. Seems like everything is running smoothly now (I hope I'm not speaking too soon). EDIT 1: Nope did it again. After about 5% more of downloading the torrent. I don't know what else I'm running that can cause this issue. I hope I'm not going to have to resort to something that can break the process/program. Okay I turned off the Windows Search service which causes the indexer to run (instead of just ending process and possibly having it just restart), hopefully this resolves my problem. EDIT 2: I noticed every time it failed when I checked the services tab of the task manager the Windows Search service (which also starts the indexer) rears it's ugly head and starts up again (which in turn probably also restarts the indexer)...so I disabled that darned service for good until I'm done downloading. EDIT 3: My Queen FLAC Discography torrent is still shooting back that file access error, but now not even 5% of the download done (67% done total). Even with the indexer disabled. What else can cause this error?
  11. I got the 'Disk Overload 100%' issue a couple of days ago...I tried all the other troubleshooting methods...then I did this (One step can only be done on chrome at this point [...I think]): 1) Go to options tab/window 2) Go to the section(for Chrome)[for tab if you opened options in the same window] or tab (for IE/Firefox options window) and find where to delete browsing history/data 3) Check off clear cache, delselect all other options, and click ok [*note (for chrome only at this point...I think): Select from the beginning of time in the drop down menu in the clear browsing data window that pops up when you click on the clear browsing data button in options tab] ...Only do this if all other methods to troubleshoot this problem fail.
