Normally: Stop bittorrent, in Windows use WIN+R, type "%appdata%\bittorrent" and place your *.btkey file there. Then restart bittorrent. PS: same works for utorrent with "%appdata%\utorrent" instead.

Current last update is unfortunately for utorrent build 43085 (utorrent 3.4.9 from 12/13/2016) and thus almost 5 years old ...
