  1. My torrents have worked for about 2 weeks and have downloaded fine, but a few days ago, whenever i try to download a torrent, it always stays stuck at connecting to peers. Sometimes it goes to Downloading... 0.0%, but then it goes back immediately to connecting to peers. I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security.
  2. So basically I am yet another victim of the now-infamous "Connecting to Peers" bug, but it doesn't seem as fatal for me. I can download certain torrents, and from certain sites, virtually all torrents will work. In a nutshell, I don't think my firewall on my PC is to blame (especially since I turned it off for a while to see). Here is the kicker... these same non-functioning torrents start right up once I go into someone else's wifi. In other words, I think the issue lies with certain torrents on my router specifically. Of course, I have no idea where to go from here. Thanks a million, yall (and for the record I did do a search, which is how I know this problem is such a pandemic... other posts just didnt seem relevant enough)
  3. To anyone who can help, We have just purchased a new Windows 8 laptop and have since installed BitTorrent 7.9.2 on it. We tried putting BitTorrent to use, but for over 3 days it hasn't advanced past the "Finding Peers 0.0%" stage. Two different torrents from the same (trusted) site have given us the same problem, and the antivirus software currently installed is avast! Did we miss something? Any help would be appreciated.
  4. I've got BitTorrent on two machines, a Windows 98 with McAfee and a Windows 7 with AVG. I've used both machines for a long time without problems, but a couple of days ago, both went into endless "connecting to peers" and won't download anything. Since I'm using two different machines with two different virus protections (though use a Windows firewall - bothof which are set to allow BitTorrent), I thought the problem might be with my ISP. I live out in the country and have to use EVDO for internet. Could they be blocking bit torrent? If not, any suggestions as to what the problem might be?
  5. Hi, and thanks in advance for any help. In decided to use a proxy server and after following this guide and setting up the connections properties exactly as instructed i get stalled with the 'connecting to peers' message. I'm at a bit of a loss here, but thinking it may have something to do with port forwarding on my router...just a hunch from some info I've picked up reading some threads of people with similar issues. Again, this is not an issue with my ISP or anything like that as far as I can tell since when I set the proxy server type no 'none' and recheck all the four boxes above that (Enable UPnP, Enable NAT-PMP, Add windows firewall) it works fine. Possibly on a side note, how does checking these boxes, as the previously mentioned instructions say to uncheck them, affect my anonymity? Can someone please give a recommendation as to some troubleshooting steps to take or if you need more info ask. Thanks majide
