Ultima22 Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 Just a few days ago, my torrents have been stuck on "Connecting to peers - 0%"Can anyone give me any insight to on how to fix this?I'm running BitTorrent. 7.9.1 on Windows 8.I don't have any security software installed, aside from an expired Norton suite, if that counts for anything.DHT, Local Peer Discovery, and Per Exchange are running okay (working) but the 3 trackers beneath them say that the connection timed out.I downloaded the slackware torrent, and it downloaded just fine, no problem. The tricky thing is, intermittently the torrents download at somepoint - I just can't pinpoint how, or where. Restarting BT, and updating the trackers themselves doesn't seem to work.Any thoughts?
Harold Feit Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 I don't have any security software installed, aside from an expired Norton suite, if that counts for anything. It does. Norton is notorious for continuing to block even after being told not to. Uninstall it and run the norton removal utility afterwards.
Ultima22 Posted May 26, 2014 Author Report Posted May 26, 2014 It does. Norton is notorious for continuing to block even after being told not to. Uninstall it and run the norton removal utility afterwards.Done, and done! No change, unfortunately. Restarted my computer and updated the tracker, as well.
Harold Feit Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 The main thing I can suggest, with slackware torrents working fine, is that you make sure that DHT and Peer Exchange are enabled globally, and make sure that your router and firewall are both configured to allow incoming connections to the listen port that BitTorrent is using.
Ultima22 Posted May 26, 2014 Author Report Posted May 26, 2014 Okay. How can I check to see of those trackers are enabled globally? And I saw something about changing my DNS on my router, would that help here?
