connecting to peers

Hey, i know this topic has been talked about already. Yet none of the solutions given are working for me. I first started using Utorrent, could not get it to work (same problem), so i changed to bittorrent, but nothing changed. I changed a couple mof settings arround yet nothing. My Firewall does have the exeption for BitTorrent. I dont really undestrant anything techwise, so if anyone has a dumb proof solution is what i need.
