napismizpravu
I would like the program to function without the internet in a local network. Once up on a time
I would so Love to see some protocol standardisation in this mesh space. Serval have standalone repeaters and so do FireChat (although they disappeared of late) So wouldn't make sense that a mesh that used all the ios, ipad, droid, MacBooks and other computers. This makes way way more endpoints and so a much more resilient and persistent mesh. As Firechat users found out there is nowhere near enough users out there for the mesh to be usable outside of music events and this is what what I am suggesting will work much better. For a starters Firechat only meshes for messages and only then between ios and droid. Their OpenGarden mesh only ran on droid and macs. Well that's only half of the phones .... Now Serval is still only droid... so once again only about half of the potential end points for the mesh. Given that meshes depend on enough end points to mesh for them to be useful, why only engage half of the phones? And then why reinvent the mesh concept your own way why not add your resources to an existing project and make it way more useful and complete. So I am suggesting the developers get together and standardise the lower protocols. And later the message types. And people will choose the end apps to suit their tastes and needs. Me I like simple gui but want calls and files. Others May just want walkie talkie. Others may want internet sharing.... Others still stickers and picture filters and so on.
