btlive fails on ubuntu 12.04, firefox 12, flash 11

using Firefox 12

Flash 11 is installed

trying to launch BTLive by clicking on the onscreen button gives error:

"Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (btlive) isn't associated with any program."

I tried opening a Terminal and trying to run btlive from the command line gives the following error(s) (which I've seen posts from other users as getting also):

$ btlive

I see same error, same architecture. Any ideas?
