Help with Search Engine Extensions

If I don't get this right, my little brother is going to holler at me. He gets to remove my viruses! I googled torrent search sites and come up with Demonoid, Piratebay, Kickass, isohunt, Torrentspy--to name a few. The extensions are different for each site; i.e., Demonoid.name - Demonoid.me - Demonoid.org.

My question, how do I know which sites are safe?
