BitTorrent 7.6.1 - Not Responding

Hi, I have been using bittorrent for the last couple of years and have had minimal issues with it. A couple of days ago I up graded as requested, and since then the program constantly freezes/not responding within seconds of starting.

I have tried

1) turning the firewall off - worked for about an hour then froze

2) disabled virus protection - no change

3) changed virus protection from Avast to Kaspersky - no change

4) deleted settings.dat and settings.dat.old - worked for about 5min

5) restarted the computer - no change

6) I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program - worked for 10min then "not responding"

I have cable internet, the icon in the bottom right hand corner of bittorrent is a green tick.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

First of all...what is running in the background that could be eating up resources away from BitTorrent?

...and please post either a hijack this log or something else that shows what is running and could cause this not responsive issue.

Also: what is your system specs besides the operating system running on your computer?

The non response happens all the time no mater what other programs I am using - even if the only thing running is bittorent.

I have tried to attach hijack this log - but I get an error when I try, so I have copy and pasted its contents at the end of this post.

I am running bittorent on a laptop with the following specs:

• 4GB RAM
• 64 bit operating system
• Intel® Core i3 CPU M 350 @ 2.27GHz processor
• Graphics ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 5.1
• Gaming graphics 2742 MB Total available graphics memory
• 7GB Free (75GB Total) of Primary hard disk
• Running windows 7

Network adapters

• Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter
• Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
• JMicron PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

I am connected to the internet with a cable connection to a Netgear network gateway, then either by wireless to my laptop or Ethernet cable (doesn't seem to make any difference which way, just slightly faster with the direct connection)

I've been having the same problem since upgrading. Can't use Bittorent and I miss it.

I have been getting the same thing. I have found that there are a few seconds when it first loads, where I can do things. So, I have tried to quickly Stop anything that is being "Checked", which is anything that was being downloaded before the freeze. If I stop all but one, it seems to be ok. As soon as the first is done being checked, I start another, until all are done. This usually works for a little while. But even when I get it working, I have returned to my computer and found a message stating BitTorrent has Crashed and do I want to send a dump report(?). Also, Some items, no matter how many seeders, just do not download. This also didn't seem to happen before the update.

Downloading too many torrents. Delete all torrents or the most recent ones that were added that started the problem.

Only had one torrent going when the problem started and it was 3/4 of the way thru. I have un-installed and reinstalled the program and started new torrents - it still freezes.

The only version of bit torrent thats been on this computer is version 7.6.1.

I understand that you dont provide support for downgrading to an older version but you have serious problems with this version!!

Ive been a huge fan of the bit torrent client for a number of years...but youve taken something that wasnt broke and tried to fix it.

Please provide support for correcting this bug infested version...i really dont want to have to change clients.

I did the upgrade and just went to download something for the first time and I cant even get the program to open. I have an Apple Mac so no Nortons or anything to interfere. Very annoying.

Yep, same problem here. It does seem to work if I don't shut the program down and let it run in the background (if I just flip between a browser and letting the torrent page flip behind it the program continues to work) so that's a small comfort but still. I don't want the program to freeze if I just shut down the window.

Not suggesting that this is a one-size-fits-all solution, but just as additional information: cutting down to one or two torrents at a time seems to have solved the problem for me. BitTorrent's behavior is (so far) back to normal.

When is someone (hopefully an ADMIN) from BitTorrent going to respond to this MASSIVE problem with the current version?

All of these steps that people are suggesting to fix the problem are coing from individuals who want to SOUND intelligent with problem solving, but who actually have no clue as to how to resolve the issue. This is a clear bug with the current, upgarded version of this software. All the logs being requested, and hardware/software descriptions are well beyond anything to do with the problem. I've been in IT for 20+ years. This same issue is happening on several different systems of mine, each with completely different platforms, all of which are stable and powerful enough to handle most anything. There were no probalems with BitTorrent on any system until the current-version upgrade was performed.

Someone at BitTorrent PLEASE address this issue. It IS your software with the problem. All other possibilities, no matter how remote, have been thoroughly eliminated.

And you individuals who are trying to help, PLEASE stop running users through a bunch of meaningless and useless technical processes in order to make yourselves seem smarter than you really are. It's not your product, so you can't fix it. This needs to be addressed SOLELY by the manufacturer/developer.

I agree, too many problems, "flushing to disk", "disk overloaded" and repeatetly freeze the bittorrent every few hours apparently without no reason!! Very bad work.

Shutting down and restarting , help's . And after - the speed's are so much greater than normal ......... I do like that part of it . When it crashes ....?....only what you see is not working .....?..... Behind what is going on is , al your downloads are still downloading . Please , this is what I have seen so far . I have been reading all the post's about this . Personally I have a feeling .... APPLE ......has something to do with this problem .

I am trying to download a file but it's not running. It's always write %0.0 and at the left part it writes (the sign timeless, infinite)
