Guest T. Winchester
Well I've just downloaded something for the first time with BitTorrent - a video. It's complete now, and there's a .dat file called "~BitTorrentPartFile_2BAD256E" as well as the .avi video. Now I've downloaded the video to put on a disc for a friend, and I'm wondering if I need to put the .dat file on the disc as well. What is it? Is it important? Will it play properly if I only put the .avi file on the disc?
Harold Feit
That partfile has to do with the fact that you're skipping some files from the torrent, and BitTorrent needs portions of those files to be able to continue to function on the torrent properly. Guest T
So if I put the video on a disc without the partfile, it'll play?
Harold Feit
Depending on the player and the format of the video stream in the file, probably. That's a stage beyond our support.
