Bittorrent will not run on Vista 64 bit

I installed Windows vista 64 bit on my acer 5517 laptop. I downloaded Bittorrent, but when I double click it I get a wait mouse symbol for a few seconds and then the program never starts. I checked my task manager and Bittorrent is not shown as running. Does java need to be installed? I will check my java and try to run it again.

No, java does not need to be installed.

Check the properties of the exe and unblock the file.
