Very slow indexing

Hi everyone ! First of all i want to apologize for my english 

I am indexing directory which contains ~ 160 GB of files and at the moment situation is followng

103.9 GB in 3809089 files (Indexing...)

and it took about 28  hours  and i think there is some problems with performance. 

And i future i want to synchronize this directory with other remote server and i am affraid to imagine how long it will take to synchronize. My question is: is it possible to make indexing faster ? 

P.S i use linux OS
