modelmakerblue Posted December 8, 2013 Report Posted December 8, 2013 Hi, I have just installed BitTorrent on my brand new PC running Windows 7. When I try to use it I get the message "This program is blocked by group policy", is there a simple work around for this or do I need to delve into the registry which is a bit frightening! Harold Feit Posted December 8, 2013 Report Posted December 8, 2013 Is this a business issue machine or one you purchased yourself?
modelmakerblue Posted December 8, 2013 Author Report Posted December 8, 2013 This is a PC I purchased myself for home use.
Harold Feit Posted December 8, 2013 Report Posted December 8, 2013 Then you'd need to have a good long talk with whoever you bought it from, because restrictive group policies don't solve problems.
modelmakerblue Posted December 8, 2013 Author Report Posted December 8, 2013 Thanks, I will try that.
modelmakerblue Posted December 9, 2013 Author Report Posted December 9, 2013 I talked to Lenovo who said it was nothing to do with them and told me to speak to Microsoft. I spent an hour with Microsoft support but they could not figure it out! They will email me if they can find a resolution, in the meantime I can't use BitTorrent or UTorrent. I will give one of their rivals a go.
MAQuinonez Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 I also have the same problem. Home computer bought from Lenovo. Bittorrent as working fine until I reinstalled OS (Win 7 Home Premium) from Lenovo One-Key Recovery. Downloaded Bittorent again and all I get is the blocked by Group Policy message. AARRGGHH!!
