Files Deleted After Bittorrent Update

I am new to this .  I updated Bittorrent from Version 7.8 to 7.8.2 .  After update, all the downloads in Version 7.8 disappeared .  I have to start downloading all the missing files .  Can someone tells me what happened , and what to do to prevent this problem for future updates .  Thank you

What happened is that during your shutting down of 7.8 to upgrade, the resume data got corrupted.

Make sure to not force-close BitTorrent when updating.
