Horrible Download Speeds!

So as the title says I get HORRID bittorent speeds on this computer only (my desktop) the MAC which is configured and all that downloads sometimes at 7mbp/s. This computer struggles to get 1mbp/s with a healthy torrent with the one off occasion of getting 2.5mbp/s! I've tried all these 'configuring' guides but no avail. I'm in DESPERATE help to fix this if anyone knows? as of now I've just set up my client to use the setup guide settings!

Also: Yes I know how torrenting works, I get healthy torrents with good ratios!

Speedtest.net results:

Neither of those guides are actually as good as the comments would have you believe.

The azureus speed calculator from the lifehacker guide is based on VERY bad math.

The recommendation of blocklists from the other guide is also a bad thing to do.

The bulk of the uTorrent setup guide from http://forum.utorrent.com/topic/13691-if-you-have-speed-issues-read-here-first/ would end up being far better for you.

http://forum.utorrent.com/topic/49798-conservative-settings-chart-alternate-speed-guide-for-utorrent/ gives better queue settings as well.

Oh really? wow, & you think you can trust these things!

Alright well I'll give these a go. I'll report back after some tests, thanks for your help! :)

Edit: bad news, the setup guide linked on that external thread has been 404'd :(

oh wait nevermind, I thought I had to click the link, I just realised the guides the whole thread  ^_^

Edit 2: something i've discovered, my Bittorent isn't installed? it's just an application sitting on my downloads folder? maybe the firewall exception isn't working right? since it couldn't even locate it?
