saxamo
Hello There, I have a home server and I installed bittorent on it. I have created a private torrent and I allowed access on the router with IP Forwarding ( actually it did it automatically itself ) I have changed the settings per the video on utube for creating a private torrent with bittorent. I then added the private ip to Bittorent Settings, bt_enable tracker is set to true and I added the trackers as I was suppose too.http://IPADDRESS:62334/announcehttp://localhost:62334/announceThe Status is "seeding" health is great and lists as 1 Seed/PeerOn my PC I have BitTorrent Plus 7.61 and I double clicked on the torrent file created. It opens says the size, Downloading 0.0%, with an infinite ETA and a Seed/Peer of 1.000, added 10 minutes ago. However, it does not download and on the server under Peers it is blank.I have tried this multiple times ( creation ) with different port numbers and then checked to see if it changed in the router which is has. However, it will not download. This is plaguing me, please offer any suggestions or help. I appreciate your time!Kind regards, Saxamohttp://www.saxamo.com
Harold Feit
Have you distributed the torrent to other people to download?Have you actually seeded the torrent yourself?
saxamo
I am seeding the download myself, privately. I am trying to download it myself from my pc which is on the same lan as the server, but I am using the torrent which indicates an external IP address. It has been 2hours and still no luck downloading it.I appreciate the response. Thanks. I just cannot figure this out.
Harold Feit
Is the torrent private flagged or no?
saxamo
The torrent when building it was checked off for private. Not sure of what you mean by private flagged. Let me know more details so I can check...
saxamo
What I did this time is I unchecked the private option on the torrent and created it and now it is downloading.. What exactly is the point of the private option and how is it suppose to work when it is checked? Need to learn this stuff. Thanks!
Harold Feit
The "private" flag disables some features of torrent clients. It is not recommended for use though.
saxamo
The "private" flag disables some features of torrent clients. It is not recommended for use though. Thanks for the reply. I will continue to do my homework. What is needed is more explanations as to why things happen. We need a chat channel (voice). I have so many questions as to what things are. Thanks again for the response. This topic can be closed. If you follow the UTUBE tutorial on creating a private torrent with bittorent, it really explains everything, just leave the check mark "OFF" for private. Everything seems to work after that.Kind regards, Saxamohttp://www.saxamo.com
Harold Feit
Honestly, the number of bad youtube guides out there for bittorrent clients is immense and you hit another one.
