bittorent adding torrents fine at my work but when i go home i cannot add any torrents on the same computer

so when i am at work i use the same laptop and i can add torrents no problems but when i go home with the same laptop i can download what has already been added but when i want to add new torrents i download the .torrent and when i double click on it it opens bittorent but wont add anything. and yes my settings are adjusted to have a pop up screen come up, no antivirus, windows defender is off and firewall exception is made and firewall is off as well. i just cant figure out why it works on my work internet but not at home. could you please help.

Are you using proxy settings in BitTorrent?

Are they valid in both locations?
