ExRobotGuy
As an avid 'torrenter' of 20 years, something leaves me puzzled. If a file is made 'available' for d/l [as in listed on various platforms] Why is that file, which I assume was once a seed, not available any more. If the original poster takes it down [I don't know how all this works!!], why is it still listed? Are some files w/ x peers just exchanging bits amongst themselves? Inquiring [non-technical minds] want to know! Thanks.
Harold Feit
Seeds are, by definition, individuals in a torrent that have 100% of all pieces. It is possible for people on a torrent to have a complete set of pieces among themselves even when there's no seed present, and will exchange the pieces among themselves. ExRobotGuy
Thanks, Harold. When a complete file is up-loaded, it becomes a 'torrent', I assume. Then this file is made available, and it is counted as a seed, [again, assuming] Therefore why would a file be listed as available for d/l if it doesn't exist [as per the '0' under seeds? Harold Feit
The .torrent file is generated then THAT is uploaded. The person who generates the torrent SHOULD then seed it to make sure people can download it.
