Lensher
My son was here for the weekend and was downloading using another program. He deleted it, but now Bittorrent wont work. Any time I try (clicking on the magnet at piratebay) a folder opens with my desktop icons.I am using BT 7.8I clicked the button in the options section to associate with torrent files, which didn't help. I also reinstalled BT and made sure to set it as the default torrent program, which also didn't help.Any suggestions? Thanks in advance,LensherOh... BTW I'm not very skilled or knowledgeable with computers, so please speak slowly and use small words. I wont be offended.

Harold Feit
Remove all associations for .torrent files in your windows folder options and retry the associations setting in BitTorrent.
Lensher
hrm... I think I'm going about this wrong. I found a torrent file, and it opened fine.... The problem seems to be with Magnet links, rather than torrent files...I stumbled across this area looking for how to remove the assosiations you told me about above....Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set AssociationsIt lists bit torrent for torrents, but I couldn't find any association for magnet files... does that make any sense, or am I looking at this completely wrong? Harold Feit
Magnets aren't files. You may need to go into the registry to delete magnet associations.
Lensher
Thanks for all the help Harold. I deleted the registry listing for magnets and torrents, reinstalled BitTorrent and everything is working smoothly again : )Sorry I was so hard to help... I'm fairly computer illiterate, but everything worked out in the end
